Hidden compartment nightstands can be described as a bedside table with 2 drawers. The hidden compartments are a safe and secure way to store valuables. Each compartment has its own unique way of accessing the compartment, and both are locked when closed. The nightstand appears normal from the outside.

To install a maglock, you need to drill one small hole in the top of or bottom compartment of your nightstand. Once it is drilled, you should place the magnetic lock in the sweet spot on the compartment's face. To open the drawer push the magnet with one side. To install a hidden magnetic lock, you can purchase a lock from a hardware store or online. This step can be skipped.

You can add two storage boxes to your nightstand to make it more spacious. The upper compartment is 13" by 2" and the bottom one is 13" by 2.5." Both compartments have felt-lined internals. The hidden compartment nightstand plans feature a two-step access system. For additional storage space, optional foam inserts may be added to the top drawers or bottom drawers.

How To

How to make wood joints

This tutorial will show how to join 2 pieces of wood together. The "pocket hole joint" is a method whereby we drill holes into the wood and glue them together. This method is great if your wood's straight and smooth. Dowel joinery might be a better option if your wood is not straight or flat. Here are the steps

  1. Drill Pocket Hole Joints. To start, measure and mark where you want to put the pocket hole joint. Use a jigsaw or handheld drilling machine to drill 3/8 inch deep holes at the ends of each wood piece.
  2. Sand Smooth. You can sand the edges of the wood to ensure that it doesn't split.
  3. Glue Together. Apply glue to both ends of the wood. Allow the wood to rest for five minutes before clamping it together.
  4. Attach the Pieces together. After the glue has dried properly, clamp the pieces together to make sure they are flush.
  5. Trim Joinery. Trimming the joinery after glue has completely dried.

Make sure to leave enough room between the pieces so that you can turn them inside and out.
